This blog is for the Tuesday night time trial (TnTT) held in Flagler Beach, Florida and also for the PC Bike Race Team activity (which is a little lacking right now). In the first two years of the TnTT we stopped sometime midsummer when the weather got too hot but in 2009 we continued through the summer despite frequent weather cancellations – we’ll attempt the same this year (2010). But this year the TnTT is going to be every two weeks rather than every week.
The TT, a rather informal affair, is 8.62 miles long and uses John Anderson Highway south of Highway 100 near Flagler Beach. The start/finish line is approximately .25 miles south of 100 in front of the Stonebridge Subdivision and the turnaround is, appropriately enough, about half the total distance south on John Anderson. It’s marked by cones and a line painted across the road. For more information about the course, see “TnTT map/info” above or the 10 April 09 post. The map has lat./long. of the start/finish and turn around locations.
Visiting cyclists are welcome and it’s free. Speeds range from 18 to 27+ mph. Ages, to date, have ranged from 15 to 70. The first start time is 6:00 pm (5:30 when the days are shorter) but you should check in earlier with Timer Tom (or whoever else might be doing the timing duty).
For more information, just leave a brief comment on the last post with your number or email address and someone will get in touch with you. Or go to the Daytona Beach Bicycle Club site and use the contacts page (under club info) to reach the “rides” person.
About the image above
It’s some wacky cyclist above the treeline at the top of a 4000′+, 14 mile climb in 35-40 degree rainy weather in the far northern reaches of California – it was great! The descent, however, wasn’t much fun.
