Due to popular demand and thanks to Timer Tom’s willingness to suffer through another season of it, the fourth season of the TnTT begins on 4 May 2010. This year, it’ll be every other week rather than every week. If there’s a weather, or other, cancellation the TnTT will move to the following week with subsequent TnTT’s at two week intervals after that.
The course is the same as last year (on John Anderson south of 100)- first rider begins at 18:00 (or 6:00 pm). As in the past, slower riders start first. Please check in with Timer Tom well before the start time, especially if you’re new to the TnTT.
And if you’re new to the TnTT (or if your memory’s not so good), please review the stuff in the “about” and the “read me” tabs above – especially about the hazards. And for more details about the course, you can check out the “map” above or the post for 10 April 09.
See ya next week,
M

Typical weather, typical turnout. No records set but both riders managed to get within 2 seconds of their personal records. And due to a consistent lack of interest, Timer Tom has declared the TnTT season over.
A big thanks to Timer Tom for his excellent timing skills and his willingness to spend his time out there this year!

See ya next year,

The TnTT is canceled for this evening due to a number of factors – primarily because most of the regulars won’t be able to make it. The next attempted TnTT will be in two weeks on 6 October.

Another slow (slow as in few people) night at the TnTT. Just two riders showed – John and Fred. And so, we’re going to an every other week schedule. The next TnTT will be the 22nd of September.
A big thanks to Timer Tom for his patience, persistence and timing skill.

Ever dreamed of racing at Sebring? Ever wanted to push the outer edge of your performance and endurance envelope? Ever imagined yourself pedaling for so long that you forget where you are? Ever lost your mind?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then join us (Dave and Mark) next February at the Bike Sebring 12-hour race/ride. What’s Bike Sebring you ask? It’s for those who aren’t quite satisfied after doing a century and think to themselves, “How far could I go in a day?”
Training begins in December. Dave says we need to do a century+ per week, building to about 160 miles. The tentative goal is 200 miles – that’s only a 16.6 mph average. Easy, right? We intend finishing as a team (in what might be the loosest sense of the term).
Qualifications? There are only two: 1) the ability to endure (I’m not sure which is worse – cycling for 12 hours or being with Dave and me for 12 hours); and 2) the ability to ride in a straight line at a consistent speed (unfortunately, this is not that widespread of a skill). Of course, it helps if you’re willing and able to do the upwind pulls.

Yes, due to some rather nasty weather moving our way, the TnTT is canceled for this week. This is particularly disappointing as I know we were going to have LOTS of riders out there today. Well, they’ll just have to wait for next week.
See ya next week,

Timer Tom says we’re a go for next Tuesday, the 1st. But if there isn’t a big enough turn out, we’ll be going to an every other week TnTT. And Timer Tom says he’s going to hunt down those who said they’d participate and then didn’t show. I think he was kidding.
See ya Tuesday (if the weather cooperates),

Typical weather. Typical turnout – Fast Freddie and me. And this despite the fact that others were sure they were going to show. Anyway, Fast Freddie, to celebrate his 70th birthday, ripped through his old record by 17 seconds. Yeah Fred!
As always, thanks to Timer Tom who managed to show despite three attempts earlier today on his new knee.
Due to lack of participation, the scheduling of the next TnTT is undetermined. We’ll post here when it’s decided.
The results? Where else?
See ya later,

Hot and windy…again. Not quite as hot or windy as last week but still only two of us showed up – Fast Freddie and me. One of us managed to break his personal record by 23 seconds and squeak his way into the 21 minute range.
But, more importantly, Fred’s 70th birthday is next week. Happy birthday Fred!
A big thanks to Timer Tom. And speaking of Timer Tom, if we don’t get more peeps out there to ride, he’s not going to show up. And if Fast Freddie, at 70 years old, can get out there every week don’t you feel embarrassed that you’re sitting at home eating cheezie puffs and drinking margaritas instead of hammering your brains out in a time trial?
Anyway, if you’re going to participate next week (assuming no weather or other cancellation), post a comment to that effect.
Results? You know where they are.
See ya next week,
M

Hot and windy. How hot and windy? Enough that it was difficult to know which one to complain about more. But fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your perspective, the wind was more direct so there was actually a tailwind on the return leg. Despite the heat and stout southerly, seven riders showed up and one, me, managed to eek out a personal record.
As always, thanks to Timer Tom for his excellent timing skills.

And a reminder, check out the new Daytona Beach Bicycle Club website. And, if you’re not already, become a member – it’s only $15/year. Get involved, make it a better club.
See ya next week,

Yes, we’re canceled once again. But this time it’s not due to the weather although it probably should be since it’s looking kinda dark down south and it’s been rumbling for the past hour or so. No, it’s due to Timer Tom dealing with a serious housing issue (AC pooped out).
On another subject, there’s a new Daytona Beach Bicycle Club web site…check it out. Besides all the other spiffy features, there’s a free self-service classifieds section. Got something to unload? Post it there.
See ya next week (eventually this will be true),
M
